Drug Testing
Drug abuse can greatly influence an individual’s ability to make sound decisions and jeopardizes an individual’s health and well-being in addition to putting others at risk of injury, loss of property, or death.
While on probation, individuals will face court ordered drug testing or on-demand drug testing based on the nature of the crime and the individual’s criminal history.
Drug Testing Procedures
Court ordered drug testing is not optional and requires an individual’s obedience without waiver during the course of his/her probation period. Drug tests can detect a variety of substances including alcohol, propoxyphene, barbiturates, opiates, marijuana, amphetamines/methamphetamines, cocaine, MDMA, methadone, buprenorphine and benzodiazepines.
Drug tests can be administered in a variety of ways including urine test, hair follicle analysis, or breathalyzer. These tests may be administered on a regular schedule, or if the court deems necessary, ordered at random. Rise Up Probation also has the ability to send samples to the Toxicology Laboratory for GC/MS confirmation. Failing to comply with scheduled or random drug tests can lead to serious consequences.
Failure to Comply
A probation officer or agency monitors drug testing; to ensure the proper channels are notified of compliance or failure to comply. Failure to take a scheduled drug test can also result in strict consequences.
Any drug violation while on probation is taken seriously and may result in further restriction including longer probation period, mandatory drug rehabilitation programs, or revocation of probation.
