Q. What is supervised probation?
A. Supervised probation is an alternative to jail. A sentence that is
handed down by the Court wherein the individual remains in the community
and is monitored by a probation officer to verify compliance and/or
noncompliance of the ordered probation conditions.
Q. What is the difference between a Suspended Imposition of Sentencing
(SIS) and a Suspended Execution of Sentencing (SES)?
A. A SIS probation term is wherein an individual is not issued a
conviction and therefore the individual has an opportunity to complete
probation and have current offense removed from his/her criminal record.
A. A SES probation term is wherein an individual is issued a conviction
with a jail sentence issued by the Court. Example would be if a Court
issues a SES-180 days; the individual may be incarcerated for 180 days if
the individual is found in violation of probation which results in
revocation.
Q. What is revocation of probation?
A. If your probation is revoked this can result in being reinstated on
probation for a new term or being sentenced to jail.
Q. Am I allowed to travel outside the state while on probation supervision?
A. You can travel outside of the State with approval by your supervising
officer. Speak with your officer to determine if verbal permission is
needed or an issued travel permit. Your offense will determine the proper
protocol for traveling outside the supervising state.
Q. What happens if I am found to be in violation of my probation?
A. A violation report is submitted to the Court that can result in a new
Court date being issued to answer to the violation(s)of probation. A
hearing is held to determine if the probation term should be continued or
revoked.
Q. Can I contact and utilize this agency and services without being
ordered probation?
A. Absolutely, our goal is to assist individuals with their needs; To
empower them to overcome.
Q. What is the duration of a Misdemeanor probation if sentenced to
supervised probation?
A. In most cases an individual is sentenced to a 2 year supervision term,
however can be issued a 1 year supervision term depending on offense and
circumstances surrounding the offense.
Q. Where can I do my community service?
A. All community service has to be completed through a Non-Profit Agency
that has a 501(c)(3) status wherein you receive no earnings for your
service.
Q. Am I drug tested while on probation supervision?
A. All individuals are subject to random drug testing throughout their
probation supervision.
Q. What do I do if I am arrested while on probation supervision?
A. Contact your supervising officer within 24 hours of arrest or next
business day.
Q. Will I receive anything concerning my completion of probation?
A. You will not receive any documents that show successful completion;
however upon request a letter of completion can be generated by this
agency.
